The Lochinvar & A.O. Smith 100074640 Ignitor used in gas-fired heaters to help start the combustion process. In cases it is a ceramic component that produces a high voltage electrical spark which in turn ignites the gas burner. When the thermostat wants heat, it sends signal to ignitor and the ignitor makes a spark.
