The Johnson Controls VG7441ET is not a ball valve but is a 2-way globe valve as mentioned earlier in this paper. While the ball valve uses a rotating ball for the on/off flow, the uses a rotary disc to control the flow rate much more effectively. This makes it suitable for use in applications where there is a requirement for flow rate regulation since it can be done slowly. Constructed from corrosion-resistant materials, the brass, which has given it a high strength, makes it preferably suitable for various HVAC systems.
