The Carrier HC44ML208 is a Permanent Split Capacitor or PSC motor, which is a common product used across numerous HVAC applications including air conditioners, heat pump systems, fan coils besides rooftop systems. This motor is expected to drive fans that help to move air in the system. A PSC motor uses a starting capacitor to give a brief increase in torque during the initial stages of operation. After starting, the motor operates on the main winding for steady use and is designed for continuous use.
